Is Brass Paramagnetic Or Diamagnetic?

Metals like zinc, aluminum, copper, and brass exhibit diamagnetism when you place them in a magnetic field. There are two relatively weak magnetic lines of forces that are developed because of the revolutionary and rotational motions of electrons in the field.

These lines are opposite in direction but equal in magnitude. That is why they cancel each other out and leave a zero magnetic force.

Because of this, we can say that brass will reach the magnets around it. That is because the magnet action around brass will cause the electric field to develop because of the electron movements. 

However, when you remove brass from this magnetic field, it will lose the magnetic interactions. Besides that, it will also not retain any magnetic properties anymore. That is why it is not magnetic but perfectly diamagnetic. 

Is Pyrite Magnetic?

Pyrite is also known as fool’s gold, and many people wonder if it is magnetic. No, pyrite is not a magnetic substance because it is a compound, and it includes iron sulfide. Because of this, it doesn’t have any magnetic properties. 

Many people think that just because something has iron in it, it will be magnetic. However, sulfur is negatively charged, and it will cancel out iron’s magnetism when they are brought together. Yes, iron will be magnetic on its own but not when you bring it together with sulfur. 

Is Titanium Magnetic?
